Neptune Direct in Pisces
On December 10, 2025, a once in a lifetime astrological event occurs, marking the end of an era that begin in 2011.
Neptune, in its home or “ruling” sign of Pisces, went direct early the morning of 12/10 at 29 degrees. Neptune will never return to its home sign in our lifetime, this is the end of the cycle of this planet, in the last degree, of the last sign.
The 29th degree is known as the “anoretic” degree, representing a culmination point of a sign. There is a power, intensity and wisdom to anoretic degrees as they hold the complete essence of the sign. Pisces has a symmetry with the anoretic degrees, as it is the last sign, simultaneously holding and releasing all of the 12 zodiac signs at once. There is a mystery, paradox and magic to Pisces, but also a sense of grief as it marks the peak of letting go and loss, as we dissolve into the great mysterious ocean of life.
Neptune, as a planet, teaches us about the spiritual, invisible, intangible realm of life. The spiritual path, despite what some might say, is just as painful, ugly and messy as it can be blissful, loving and inspiring.
The divine doesn’t promise a journey that is about perfection and an upward, always improving trajectory. Humans who cultivate a relationship with god/dess, the divine, Buddha, spirit, etc do not escape the shadow, loss, death or any of the more challenging experiences that are simply part of being human.
Neptune transits create the ultimate illusions and then the illusions are exposed. Often we grieve, feeling the loss of all that we had imagined our happiness depended on. Neptune reminds us of the love and connection to spirit/divine/god/dess that still remains when every illusions about our lives has been shattered.
Now is a good moment be gentle with yourself, to grieve if you feel loss, to pray or take a moment to connect with the spirit of love and life.
The direct motion on December 10th, 2025 concentrates the power, meaning and impact of this watery planet, but Neptune will remain at this last potent 29th degree of Pisces until January 27th, 2026. We have entered a portal that has the potential to be a liminal, mystical, surreal, dreamy and imaginal time. Perceptions of reality shift, our focus softens, and the movie plot of our lives veers towards magical realism. All of this is possible if there is space made to soften our grasp and release the illusions that have caused us pain and suffering. Grieving is an honored ritual now, one that reminds us of how much we love what has been lost. Let’s make the space to grieve together, in our own way, at our own pace.
